October 15, 2011, I-84 Fallen Trooper Memorial Highway Dedication
WESTFALL TWP – The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association dedicated the newly designated “Fallen Trooper Memorial Highway” Saturday morning, at the Welcome Center in Pike County. The center is located off Exit 53 of Interstate 84.
Legislation designating a portion of I-84 as the Fallen Trooper Memorial Highway was sponsored by state Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20). The highway will run from Lackawanna County to the Pennsylvania-New York state line.
PSTA President Bruce Edwards, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan and Sen. Baker offered brief remarks. A permanent highway sign and monument was unveiled with family members who lost loved ones in their service to the commonwealth as members of the Pennsylvania State Police. The monument includes a special inscription and the names of all troopers killed in the line of duty.
Below are selected photos of the event. PSTA invited the participation of the Pennsylvania State Police Historic Educational & Memorial Center (PSP-HEMC) which includes the PSP Museum. Board members Tom Taylor and Dean Hooper represented PSP-HEMC and they chose to wear their Blue Knights PA V colors to further promote our BKI PA V Harrisburg chapter. We were joined by local Blue Knights from PA VI

PA-V's most recent fund raiser (benefit) ride occurred Saturday, Sept 17, 2011, starting at the Thompsontown Baptist Church. The morning began at 0830 hours with Registration and refreshments until 1000 hrs. Pastor Rev. Ted Kostich provided a welcome from Thompsontown Baptist Church which hosted our event, provided refreshments & complete lunch and blessed our ride. At 1000 hours we began a rural tour of three Counties, with two bathroom/fuel/breaks, ending back at the Baptist Church for picnic lunch and door prizes. Although the day had the fresh snap of a cool crisp Fall morning, we experienced partially sunny weather to enjoy the ride.
